Happy New Year 2020! The start of the new year is an excellent time to make noble aspirations—personal and for others, small and big, mundane and spiritual. Making the right aspirations will drive us to work in the right direction and to achieve our goals. They are like essential nutrients for a seed to germinate, blossom, and grow. As part of our 2020: Year of Noble Aspiration activity, please consider joining our Green Tara worldwide mantra accumulation.
Arya Tara is known as the mother of liberation and embodies the compassion of all the buddhas and bodhisattvas. Ages ago, she arose bodhicitta (enlightenment-mind) and vowed to remain in female form throughout her spiritual path and even after attaining bodhi. The noblest aspiration is bodhicitta, the wish to attain buddhahood for the benefit of all sentient beings. Bodhicitta arises from cultivating limitless compassion and loving-kindness towards all, without any exception or bias.
In her green form, Tara represents the activity aspect of the buddhas. She works to lead us from suffering and to actualize our aims. She also protects us from both inner and outer fears and dangers. Indeed, Tara prayer texts mention so many ways she can help us, and these examples range from the most mundane to complete bodhi.
